Guest invitation process from Teams
The secretariat has set up a Microsoft Teams/SharePoint collaboration workspace under the United Nations tenant and will invite experts as 'Guests' to the different channels relevant to their chapters.
With guest access, you will have access to teams, documents in channels, resources, chats, and applications. Anyone with a business or consumer email account, such as Outlook, Gmail, or others, can participate as a guest in Teams.
Please provide a Microsoft Office 365 work or school email account to be added as a guest user. Send an email to the secretariat: mea-ipbes-registration@un.org.
Here are the steps:
After a guest is added to a team, it may take a few hours before they have access.
When you are invited to join a team, you will receive a welcome email invitation that includes some information about joining Teams and what the guest experience is like. The email will be from "noreply@emeaemail.teams.microsoft.com." The message's subject will read, "You have been added to a team in Microsoft Teams." - see the screenshot below.
Please accept the invitation by clicking on the link in the invitation. Guests who have a work or school account in Azure Active Directory can accept the invitation and authenticate directly. Other users are sent a one-time passcode to validate their identity (One-time passcode authentication is required).
After accepting the invitation, you can participate in teams and channels, receive and respond to channel messages, access files in channels, participate in chats, join meetings, collaborate on documents, and more.
The new version of Teams allows you to quickly and easily sign in to and switch between multiple accounts and organizations. Search and chat have been streamlined to offer more seamless collaboration opportunities.
You can now log into multiple work, school, and personal accounts using the new Teams.
Select your profile picture in the top right of the Teams desktop client.
Select Add another account and enter your credentials in the pop-up window.
You can return to your profile at any time to switch between accounts.
Click on your profile picture in the upper right corner.
You will now see a list of the organizations you’ve been invited to.
If you experience any technical issues, kindly notify the respective technical support unit.
Report other technical issues to the secretariat at the following email: mea-ipbes-registration@un.org.

To edit Word documents in Teams:
Open Microsoft Teams.
Navigate to Files to view all your documents.
Select and open the Word document you'd like to edit.
When you share your document with others and give them permission to edit, everyone's changes are made in the same document.
Save your document in OneDrive if it's not already there.
Note: The Share window displays if your document is not currently saved in OneDrive. Select the OneDrive option, then name your document and select OK.
Enter email addresses of the people you want to share with and make choices for permission you want to allow.
Type a message if you want, and select Send.

When someone shares a Word document with you, the email you receive includes a link that opens the document in your web browser: in Word for the web. Select Edit Document > Edit in Browser.
If anyone else is working on the document, you'll see their presence and the changes they're making. We call this coauthoring, or real-time collaboration.
From here, if you'd rather work in your Word app, switch from Editing to Open in Desktop App, near the top of the window.
Watch more here. (source: Microsoft)
You'll still be coauthoring, as long as you're a Microsoft 365 subscriber, using one of these versions of Word:
Word 2016 for Windows
Word 2016 for Mac
Word on a mobile device (Android, iOS, or Windows)
If you're using an older version of Word, or if you're not a subscriber, you can still edit the document at the same time others are working in it, but you won't have real-time collaboration. To see others' changes and share yours, you'll have to save the document from time to time.
Documents with Macros (.docm)
If your document contains macros (.docm), you can still edit and collaborate. You can open and edit the content like any other document, including running macros. If you need to edit the macro code, simply check out the file, edit the code, and check it back in.
In Windows, click Start. > Microsoft Teams.
Select Files on the left side of Teams for quick access to all your files. Watch the video below to learn more:
